Everyone loves a feel-good story around the holidays. There is no better feel-good story than someone who takes the time to be with or give to sick kids. Well, Goo Goo Dolls has a story that is bound to make you feel good this holiday season. During the band's Boxes tour this year, band members signed guitars and drumheads, which they then sold. That in itself wouldn't be much of a story. After all, musicians sign instruments all the time. However, this was done in conjunction with Music Gives to St. Jude Kids, an organization founded by Jason Thomas Gordon, the grandson of Danny Thomas, who founded St. Jude Hospital. The band took the proceeds ($22,800) from those sales and donated them to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Of the hospital, singer-guitarist Johnny Rzeznik said, "Visiting St. Jude was a real eye opener. It's amazing that so much good can be done in one place by so many good people." with their donation, the members of Goo Goo Dolls showed that they are among the good people who help the patients and families of St. Jude Hospital.
You don't have to be a musician to help. Any donation helps ensure that families will never receive a bill for services rendered at St. Jude. Visit www.stjude.org to see how you can help this amazing hospital as it continues to help children and families who desperately need it.
