Indie singer-songwriter Grace Askew completed 365 days of music on Dec. 31. Every day in 2018, she composed and performed a new original song.

In 2017, the "bluntry" artist (blues + country), as Askew liked to call herself, released a few music videos for "Warrior," "Coyote Love" and "Proof." While last year was quiet in terms of new releases, she was actually busy cranking out a song a day for the #365Challenge. As part of her campaign to inspire people to "feed" their creativity "every single day," Grace wrote and performed a new song from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2018. Sometimes on Instagram Askew would ask fans for five random words to include in the coming song and she would make it work.

From writing a year's worth of songs in 2018, the very last one seemed to be the most telling of the experience. On "Here & Now is Everything," she sang, "365 days under my belt / Facing the world and showing up for myself." The empowerment in her movement is best described in the lyric: "No obstacles can hold me back / Unstoppable, I know this path." For the special occasion, she performed "Here" in the Las Palomas Inn in New Mexico backed by the band Mariachi Sonidos del Monte.

On Jan. 1, Askew announced her intention to keep the songs coming by expanding the challenge from 365 days to 500 days. To keep up with Grace's cool project in 2019, check out her artist Facebook page here
