Denis Jašarević better known by his stage name, Gramatik, has one of the most unique paths to the forefront of the electronica realm. Hailing from Portorož, SR Slovenia, Gramatik's taken a liking to jazz, funk, and soul after listening to his sister's cassette tapes. As he grew older, he developed his own musical palate and discovered hip-hop producers DJ Premier, RZA, and rapper Guru. These artists helped Gramatik's form his own sound of chopping and blending classic rock, soul, and jazz records to curate his own music.
As a budding artist, Gramatik signed a fee-free label deal with Pretty Lights Music before developing his own record label, LowTemp Recordings. Historically, Gramatik has been vocal about 'digital freedom' and wanting his music to remain primarily free for the sake of having artistic integrity. Jašarević is also the first major artist to develop his own cryptocurrency, GRMTK, and 'tokenize' his intellectual property. With GRMTK, Gramatik was able to raise over two million dollars using his own digital currency.
Now, after the release of his Street Bangerz Vol. 5 LP this past December, the lo-fi trip-hop producer is back on the road touring internationally.
