While Gucci Mane has been a writer for much of his life, he can now officially say that he is a published author. And he did as much on Twitter Monday (see below). The Atlanta native has announced that Simon and Schuster will release The Autobiography of Gucci Mane on Sept. 19. You can pre-order it here.
As The Fader reported, collaborator Marilyn Manson—the two teamed up for a track from the film "Spring Breakers"—interviewed Gucci in February for a CR Men’s Book cover story. After the premiere, Manson and Gucci became friends with Gucci telling The Fader, "He’s cool as hell, I f*ck with him hard. He ain’t the averagest white boy.”
In the CR Men’s Book interview, Gucci told Manson that he began writing his memoir when he was doing a 3-year bid in an Indian federal penitentiary "When I was locked up and they put me in the hole, this is what I was doing to keep my sanity. This is how I was protecting myself.”
