It’s time to get the children’s Halloween costumes ready for trick-or-treating and special events for kids in Atlanta this year. Check out some of the family-friendly and kid-friendly not-so-spooky Halloween events in Atlanta during 2017.
Magic Monday: Historic Halloween
Oct. 9 @ 10 a.m.
Atlanta History Center, 130 West Paces Ferry Rd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30305
Dress toddlers and preschoolers in Halloween costumes so they can join the parade, costume contests, and trick-or-treating at the museum. Activities will also include arts and crafts and storytelling. Admission will be $6.50/Adults and $5.50/Children.
Boo at the Zoo
Oct. 21, 22, 28, 29 @ 9:30 a.m.
Atlanta Zoo, 800 Cherokee Ave. SE, Atlanta, GA 30315
There will be special treats for children and for the zoo animals the Halloween event at the Atlanta Zoo. Kids will enjoy the costume contests, the inflatable Corn Maze, DJ music, and storybook characters at the zoo. The 501st Georgia Garrison will return with the Star Wars and Stormtroopers characters. The zoo animals will get special treats throughout the zoo. Children under 3 will be admitted free with general admission.
Little 5 Points Halloween Festival and Parade
Oct. 21 @ 12 p.m.
Little Five Points, Euclid and Moreland Ave. Atlanta, GA. 30307
This wacky Halloween event will be a street festival and artist market, with entertainment including live music. The centerpiece of the day will be the Halloween Parade, which will step off at 4 p.m.
Trick or Treat at the Museum
Oct. 21 @ 6:30 p.m.
Children’s Museum of Atlanta, 275 Centennial Olympic Park Dr., Atlanta, GA 30313
The Children’s Museum will be transformed into a funhouse for Trick-or-Treating. Kids dress in costumes for the fun, which will include entertainment, prizes, crafts, and treats. Tickets $8-$18
Kids will show off their Halloween costumes on the Goblin Runway, make fall-crafts, listen to storytelling, see a magician, and be amazed by the decorated scarecrows at Scarecrows in the Garden. Train rides will be $3 per passenger. Pony rides will be $4. Regular admission rates will apply.
31st Annual Halloween Hikes
Oct. 20-21 & Oct. 27-28
Chattahoochee Nature Center — 9135 Willeo Road, Roswell, GA 30075
Take a guided tour through the woods to see non-scary costumed characters along the lighted trail. The event will also feature World Music, crafts, face painting, and a campfire. The fee will be $10/per person ($1 off for the first weekend), and children two and under are admitted free.
Georgia A-Scary-Um Trick or Treat

The Georgia Aquarium will feature a cast of characters, including Dracula and Frankenstein, for their Halloween event. Dance to the hits of the ‘70s and ‘80s. During Trick or Treat on Oct.28, kids 12 and under, in Halloween costumes will be admitted with each paying adult. See the website for admission information.
