Halloween is right around the corner, so make plans to get the costumes ready and choose the kid-friendly and family-friendly not-so-scary events in Austin, TX in 2017. Children love to dress in imaginative costumes and play with family and friends, so have fun in Austin this Halloween.

Boo at the Zoo
Oct. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 & 28 @ 6:30 p.m.

The Austin Zoo will be decked out for Halloween and fun for kids of all ages. Enjoy the nocturnal animals, eerie train ride, and unlimited trips through the Haunted Mansion. Tickets, which are $17.50, are on sale now.

 Metz Halloween Carnival
Oct. 12 @ 5:30 p.m.
Metz Recreation Center, 2017 Canterbury St., Austin TX. 78702

The carnival at Recreation Center will include free entertainment, a costume contest, music, door prizes, and more.  Tickets to the infamous haunted house will be $1. There will be a charge of 25 cents for game tickets.

Haunted Halloween Trails
Oct. 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 & 28 @ 7 p.m.

The living history farm will have three separate trails, each night and one of one trail is for young children. There will be spook lights, stories, pumpkins, and more for a memorable experience. Tickets will $15 at the gate, or $14 by advance purchase.

This family-friendly and dog-friendly event will raise awareness of pet rescue. The event will include a costume contest, wiener dog races, and more.

Halloween at Twin Lakes
Oct. 21 @ 3 p.m.
Twin Lakes Family YMCA, 204 E. Little Elm Trail, Cedar Park, TX 78613

This family-friendly event will be free and open to the community. Activities will include trick-or-treating, costume fashion show, games, bounce houses, family talent show, and more.

UMLAUF Last Straw Fest
Oct. 29 @ 10 a.m..
605 Robert E. Lee Road, Austin, TX. 78704

The event features pumpkin carving, fall activities, games, face painting, straw art, crafts, and more. There will be trick-or-treating around the garden at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Music by DJ Gastby will play from 12-4 p.m.  This family-friendly celebration will be free to the public.

Halloween Festival
Oct. 26 @ 5:30 p.m.
Georgetown Community Center, 445 E. Morrow St, Georgetown, TX. 78626

The City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department will present the 23rd Annual Halloween Festival. Dress up in costumes for the family-friendly event and have some fun. The Trick-Or-Treat Village, costume contest, pumpkin decorating will be free.  The Hayride will be $2 for ages 1-4 years old and $3 for 5 years to adult. Carnival tickets for games, food, and refreshments will be 25 cents per ticket.

Halloween at the Y
Oct. 28 @ 2 p.m.
CHASCO Family YMCA, 1812 N. Mays St., Round Rock, TX 78664

This festival is one of the largest Halloween events in Central Texas, according to the YMCA website. The celebration will include carnival games, inflatables, rides, climbing walls, and free Halloween candy. Admission will be $9 per person.

Fall Fun Festival
Oct. 31 @ 9 a.m.
Old Settlers Park, 3300 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock, TX. 78665

The theme of this year’s Fall Fun Festival for toddlers and pre-school aged children will be Dr. Seuss. The event ill includes hayrides, cookies and punch and fun. Guests will be encouraged to donate a canned item to the Round Rock Serving Center at the event.
