Halloween events for kids in Cleveland and Akron 2017
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History

Children will get to dress up in clever Halloween costumes and enjoy the special events in the Cleveland-Akron, Ohio area this year. Get the kids’ costumes ready and prepare to head out to the family-friendly Halloween events in 2017.

Boo at the Zoo
Oct. 13-29 Weekends (Fri.-Sun.) @ 5 p.m.
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, 4101 Fulton Parkway, Cleveland, OH 44144

Boo at the Zoo will feature kid-friendly activities including treat stations, carousel and train rides, and unlimited 4-D Theater movies. Tickets $9.50-$11.50. Children under 2 free.

Dress the kids in their Halloween costumes for a non-scary event. Use the candy passport to find all the treat stations at the zoo. Tickets for trick-or-treaters will be $12 in advance and $14 on the day of the visit. See the website for details.

Hauntaquarium at the Greater Cleveland Aquarium
Oct. 20, 21, 27, & 28 @ 6 p.m.

Bring the young buccaneers to the trick-or-treat pirate party at the Aquarium. This not-so-spooky event for kids will feature magic, animal encounters, games, face painting, a deejayed dance party and more. General admission for kids and adults will be $12. Children younger than 2 are free.

Bootanical Bash
Oct. 21 @ 5 p.m.
Cleveland Botanical Garden, 11030 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH

Dress in costume and bring a treat bag for trick-or-treating in the Hershey Children’s Garden. Activities at this family-friendly event will include games, singing, and Halloween themed fun. This event will sell out so register in advance. Tickets for non-members $16/children, $15 adults.

Children’s Halloween Party at the Cleveland Museum of History

Kids will learn about animal enrichment and see animals work and play. There will be grams, crafts, pumpkin decorating at this non-spooky Halloween event. Members/Free, non-members/free with general admission. Children 12 and under, who wear costumes will be admitted free.

Medina County Park Halloween All Aboard Lester Rail Trail

The N.E.O.L.S. miniature railroad group is offering free model train rides at Lester Rail Trail. Children are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes, but for safety, they should avoid long, flowing garments.  

Halloween Fair
Oct. 13, 13, 20, 21, 27, & 28 @ 5p.m.
Lorain County Metro Parks, Carlisle Reservation, 12882 Diagonal Rd., LaGrange, OH

The Halloween Fair Trail will be family-friendly from 5-7, p.m., but will become scary at 7 p.m., so families should experience the trail during daylight hours.  The Little Green Choo and Tractor-pulled wagon ride will ride through the Children’s Nature Discovery Trail with kid-friendly displays, along with inflatable Halloween characters. Halloween entertainment will include music, a balloon artist, and more. Midway games will be available. Admission will be $2 per person, and children ages 3 and younger will be admitted free.

Free Trunk-0r-Treat at Riverfront Family YMCA

Dress in costumes for this free family-friendly celebration for an afternoon of fun. There will be treats, costume contests, games face painting, a DJ, a food truck and more. ECP Auto Repair and Services will provide complimentary car seat checks.

The Great Pumpkin Indoor Trick-or-Treat & Safety Fair
Oct. 28 @ 10 a.m.

This free kid-friendly Halloween event will be present by United Way of Trumbull County and Kent State University at Trumbull. Trick-or-treaters will receive a free reusable bag for the Great Pumpkin Indoor Trick-or-Treat. Kids will enjoy the Enchanted Halloween Story Times, rock painting, and celebrity mascots.  The event will also feature safety stations to educate and give safety tips to kids and parents.  Non-perishable food and personal hygiene items can be donated at the door.
