Halloween events for kids in Indianapolis 2017

It is time to get the kids’ Halloween costumes ready for all the family-friendly events in Indianapolis in 2017. Check out some of the events that will offer safe trick-or-treating and fun activities for children this year.

Haunted House at the Children’s Museum
Oct. 7-31 
Indiana Children’s Museum — 3000 North Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN 46208

IPL’s Lights-On hours are recommended for children who might scare easily. The Wicked Woods tickets will be separate from Museum admission, but Museum admission is not necessary to attend the Haunted House. Children 13 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets: $7.25-$8.

Halloween Boo Zoo
Oct. 5-8, 12-15, 19-22, 26-29 @ 2 p.m.
Indianapolis Zoo — 1200 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46222

The Central Indiana Honda Dealers will present Boo Zoo Thursdays thru Sundays during October. There will be family-friendly Halloween fun throughout the zoo, including rides, decorations, animal chats, and Halloween-themed animal enrichment. Kids are encouraged to wear wild costumes and bring a reusable bag to hold treats they can collect on theTrick-or-Treat Trail. See the zoo website for ticket information.

Headless Horseman at Conner Prairie
Oct. 12-15, 19-22, 26-29
Conner Prairie — 13400 Allisonville Rd., Fishers, IN 46038

Headless Horseman will be a not-too-scary family-friendly outdoor event with activities for kids. The event will feature a haunted hayride, seven-acre corn maze, barrel-train for kids, Halloween midway games, shows, bounce houses, mini golf, puppet show, magic show, storytelling, and more. The day of fun will be packed with entertainment and fun. Purchase tickets online before Oct. 11 for a discounted rate. Tickets range from $13-$21.  

Hauntless Halloween
Oct. 19-21 @ 5:30 p.m.
Holliday Park — 6363 Spring Mill Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46260

This family-friendly event will be fun, as the staff of Holliday Park and actors from the Booth Tarkington Civic Theater help to provide enchantment to audience members. Families will  have the opportunity to hike along trails lit by candlelight and even talk to magical forest creature. Upon return to the nature center, there will be a campfire, activities, and refreshments. Tickets $8, free for children 2 and under. Pre-registration is required, so be sure to save your spot before you arrive.

Little Haunt on the Prairie
Oct. 26 @ 5 p.m.
Cool Creek Nature Center — 2000-E 151st St., Carmel, IN 46033

There will be Halloween fun and activities for children ranging from pre-school to school ages. Dress in costume and enjoy nature, entertainment, a hayride, live owls, crafts, games, a spooky nature trail, Monster Mash dancing, and a campfire with marshmallows. Admission will be $3 per person. Attendees are asked to bring a canned or non-perishable food item for donation to Amanda Strong Food for the Needy.

Boo Bash
Oct. 27 @ 6:30 p.m.
Central Green City Hall — 1 Municipal Dr., Fishers, IN 46038

The 5th Annual Boo Bash is a free event that will offer a safe place for kids to trick-or-treat and to enjoy live music, games, and activities. A Sensory Friendly Hour for kids with special needs will be available before the Boo Bash, from 5-6 p.m.  There will be booths with giveaways for children ages 3 and up. Complimentary refreshments will also be available for the first 1,000 people, so plan to get there early.

Trick Your Trunk
Oct. 28 @ 5:30 p.m.
Downtown Franklin — 70 E. Monroe St., Franklin, IN 46131

Cars will line up by the historic Artcraft Theater so kids can collect treats in a safe environment at this family-friendly community event. There will also be a free Halloween Open House at and Carnival at the Boys & Girls Club of American from 3-5 p.m.

Safe Night Halloween at Indiana State Fairgrounds
Oct. 31 @ 5 p.m.
Indiana State Fairgrounds — 1202 E. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46205

Safe Night Halloween will be held at the Elements Financial Blue-Ribbon Pavilion on Halloween evening. More than 20 community partners will be there to give families a safe trick-or-treat.  The family-friendly event will be free for kids 12 and under, accompanied by an adult.  Parking will be $5.

Fishers YMCA Halloween Extravaganza
Oct. 28 @ 5 p.m.
Fishers YMCA — 9012 E. 126th St., Fishers, IN 46038

Dress the kids in costumes for the Halloween fun at Fishers YMCA, where there will be hayrides, crafts, a bounce house, and a bonfire. Guest pricing $6/per person, age 2 and under free.

Historic Irvington Halloween Street Festival
Oct. 28
East Washington St., Irvington, IN 46219

The family-friendly street festival is one of the events held in Irvington during the week before Halloween. This event will feature a Halloween costume parade, free entertainment, pumpkin carving, costume contests, a dog costume contest, competitions, food booths, and over 200 vendors.
