Get the Halloween costumes ready for the many kid-friendly and family-friendly events held in the Phoenix-Prescott area in Arizona in 2017. Children will get to trick-or-treat and show off their Halloween costumes at the safe events, many of which will be free to attend.

Town of Carefree’s Enchanted Pumpkin Garden
Oct. 20-29 @ 10 a.m.

The Enchanted Pumpkin Garden has been highlighted in the October issue of Food Network Magazine, so the event is getting national attention. Ray Villfane will host the family-friendly event on the 4-acre Carefree Desert Gardens exhibit, with pumpkin characters and newly carved pumpkins every day. Admission will be free.

Halloween Spooktacular and Car Show at The Shops at Norterra
Oct. 20 @ 6 p.m.

The annual Halloween event will offer a night of family fun, including a Halloween car show with trunk-or-treating, music, games, prizes, and more. Adding to the excitement will be costume contests for kids, family, and pets.

Enchanted Trail-Sendero Encantado

Enchanted Trail gives families a rare chance to see the Rio Salado by night, where they will learn about nocturnal wildlife in Arizona. Enchanted Trail is a bilingual and educational family festival featuring night hikes, wildlife, crafts, a spooky bat cave, and food concessions.

Howl-O-Ween at the Zoo

Visit the zoo for a family-friendly Halloween event with entertainment for kids, including Fantasy Meet & Greets, Extinct Animal Graveyard, Dinosaurs in the Desert, Camel Rides, Trick or Treat Doors, and more. General admission will be $12.95 and free for children 2 and under.

Halloween Spooktacular
Oct. 27 @ 5:30 p.m.

The family-friendly fun will be offered at this event, including games, arts & crafts, trunk-or-treat stations, and a Haunted House. There will be costume contests for kids and for family/groups. Admission will be free.  There will be fees for some activities and for food.

 Family Halloween Carnival 
Oct. 29 @ 5 p.m.
Kiwanis Park, 5500 S Mill Ave., Tempe, AZ. 85283

Tempe’s 40th Annual Halloween Carnival will be free to attend featuring games, live entertainment, face painting, train rides, inflatables, and a toddler play area. Dress in costume for the annual Halloween costume contest.  Tickets will be sold for food, attractions, and games.

Boo at the Zoo

Dress in costume to trick-or-treat at stations around the animal sanctuary. Bring a flashlight to the nocturnal animals out and about during this family-friendly event. Special admission will be $6 for non-members and $4 for members.

Halloween in the Hills 
Oct. 31 @ 4 p.m.
Avenue of the Fountains: E. Ave. of the Fountains, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268

Halloween in the Hills will be a ‘Spooktacular’ event with fun for the family in a safe environment. The festivities in the valley will be kid-friendly and pet-friendly. More than 40 booths will provide family games along the avenue. There will be bounce houses, entertainment in the stage area, and a Fountain Hills Fire truck candy drop. The costume contests will offer prizes for “Pets and Their People” and “Best Kids Costume.” Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.
