The Harlem Globetrotters have announced their schedule for 2019. They are scheduled to have 10 shows from Jan. 19 to March 31. Nine of the shows will have a magic press pre-show event.

The Globetrotters originated in 1926 as the Chicago Globetrotters. They were in Chicago for two years before moving to New York in 1928 when they were known as the New York Harlem Globetrotters. They have been known as simply the Harlem Globetrotters since 1929.

In 1940, the Globetrotters won the World Professional Basketball Tournament when they beat the Chicago Bruins 31-29. However, the Globetrotters are not really known for their championships. They are known for their entertainment and their dominance over the Washington Generals over the years.

Some of the most notable Globetrotters over the years include Wilt Chamberlain, (who holds the NBA record for most points in a game with 100), and Connie Hawkins. Their current roster has four women--Brianna "Hoops" Green, Hannah "Mighty" Mortimer, Cherelle "Torch" George and Fatima "TNT" Lister. Other current Globetrotters include Jonte "Too Tall" Hall, who at 5'2", is one of the smallest Globetrotters in franchise history, Kris "Hi-Lite" Bruton, who was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 1994 and Orlando "El Gato" Melendez, who is the first native of Puerto Rico to play for the Globetrotters.
