Harry Styles adds 3 Teen Choice Award wins to his list of accolades

The 2017 Teen Choice Awards aired last night on FOX in which fans crowned their favorite artists in music, TV, film and more. Breakout solo artist and former One Direction member Harry Styles picked up three TCAs out of eight total nominations, though he was absent from the ceremony and couldn’t accept them in person.

Styles snagged honors for Choice Male Artist, Choice Rock Artist, and Choice Style Icon. Claiming three awards as a solo artist was a notable accomplishment for the “Sign of the Times” singer, whose 1D fan base remains fiercely loyal to him and his fellow band mates Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson. Horan picked up a TCA of his own for Choice Song: Male Artist “Slow Hands” and Louis Tomlinson and Steve Aoki won Choice Collaboration for their smash hit “Just Hold On.” Tomlinson also performed his latest single "Back to You" with Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals at the live show.

Styles was also competing with his pal and collaborator Ed Sheeran in multiple categories. He bested the “Thinking Out Loud” singer in winning Choice Male Artist. Sheeran, meanwhile, took home Choice Pop Song for his chart-busting hit “Shape of You.”

The fact that all the former One Direction boys were nominated for TCAs based on their solo work, means that while diehard Directioners are still holding out hope for a 1D reunion, they are happily embracing their solo material.

Styles recently celebrated the release of his first feature film project, “Dunkirk.” He’ll soon be gearing up to hit the road on his first-ever, widely sold-out solo tour. Styles’ self-titled debut solo album has largely been described as an “art-rock” album. The eclectic track mix notably doesn’t offer any pop star/boy band leanings. Earning Choice Rock Artist and beating out the likes of rock icons like Twenty One Pilots, Imagine Dragons and Linkin Park should be a huge affirmation he’s in the right genre lane.

Awards show highlights included Maroon 5 winning the Decade Award, Miley Cyrus receiving the Ultimate Choice Award and Bruno Mars receiving the Visionary Award.
