Christmas lights are one of the most magical elements of the holiday, and they're all the more dazzling in a parade. Enjoy Denver's 43rd annual Parade of Lights, kicking off the holiday season with two-mile-long parades on Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2, with parade staples like marching bands, floats, giant balloons, and, of course, Santa and Major Waddles the penguin. And make sure you have the best view with grandstand seating, costing $19 for adults and $16 for kids.

Head to nearby Boulder for their annual Lights of December Parade, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with floats, marching bands, lit fire engines, carolers, and more, including a grand finale with an appearance from Santa.
