In an interesting note, there were no goals scored in either of the first legs of the Western Conference semi-finals. At B.C. Place Stadium in Vancouver on Sunday, the Vancouver Whitecaps and Seattle Sounders played to a 0-0 tie. Game two of that series is taking place at CenturyLink Field in Seattle on Thursday evening.
In the Eastern Conference semi-finals, Toronto FC beat the New York Red Bulls 2-1 in their first leg at Harrison, NJ on Sunday.
