Humphrey’s is one of the more intimate, yet spectacular, venues in San Diego. Located right next to the San Diego Bay with spectacular views of the harbor. Many concert goers paddle, motor, sail, or even float up to listen to the music for free out on the water. The venue itself holds about 1400 people. Most of the shows are seated but several, especially some of the newer acts, are standing only. Even the seated shows usually end up with a lot of the fans dancing at their seats or in the aisles.
There is a full-service bar in the back and a smaller mini-bar near the entrance. If you are hungry there are snacks like popcorn, pizza, and hot dogs. Waitresses also walk around throughout the night allowing you to order drinks right from your seat. The staff, made up of mostly volunteers, is friendly and helpful.
If you enjoy good music in a beautiful outdoor setting, then Humphrey’s Concerts by the bay is the place for you.
Some of the shows coming this summer include new acts like BANKS and Father John Misty. Classic rockers Sheryl Crow, Steely Dan, and Steve Winwood. The Beach Boys and David Crosby will delight the sixties generation, while the eighties is well represented by Huey Lewis and The News and Lost 80’s Live featuring Berlin, The Flirts, Wang Chung, Missing Persons and more. There is reggae with Ziggy Marley and country with Willie Nelson. Basically, there is something for everyone this season.
