Imagine Dragons lead singer Dan Reynolds is going into business with HBO. Per a report from Deadline Hollywood, Reynolds and the premium cable network have struck a deal for HBO to distribute "Believer," Reynolds' documentary about the treatment of LGBTQ people within the Mormon church.
"Believer" follows Reynolds, who is himself of Mormon faith, as he investigates how the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints treats LGBTQ members and probes whether or not their policies regarding same-sex relationships are a factor in how the church's home state of Utah has seen the suicide rate amongst teenagers rise significantly over the last ten years.
Reynolds, his wife Aja Volkman, and Neon Trees lead singer Tyler Glenn (a Utah native who is openly gay and was raised in the Mormon church) are featured in the documentary, which Deadline reports that Reynolds also wrote two original songs for. "Believer" is directed by Don Argott and produced by Live Nation Productions, which is the film and TV production arm of concert promoter Live Nation.
Under this week's deal, "Believer" will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival later this month, before it will be made available to a TV audience on HBO in summer 2019. A specific date for the television premiere has not yet been announced.
