Forest Hills Stadium is set to host Interpol, who will perform their debut album, Turn On The Bright Lights, in its entirety at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23. The post-punk revivalists will be joined by special guests Deerhunter and Battles.
Turn on the Bright Lights is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year and Interpol is commemorating the occasion by playing the album front to back. Turn on the Bright Lights emerged in August 2002 via Matador Records and spent 73 weeks on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart, reaching No. 5. The album gave birth to three singles: “PDA,” “Obstacle 1,” and “Say Hello to the Angels / NYC.”
This summer marked the 10th anniversary of Interpol’s third LP and first major-label release, Our Love to Admire. Released in July 2007 on Capitol Records, Our Love to Admire debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. The album was supported by three singles: “The Heinrich Maneuver,” “Mammoth,” and “No I in Threesome.”
Interpol’s most recent studio long-player, El Pintor, dropped in September 2014 on Matador and spawned five singles: “All the Rage Back Home,” “Ancient Ways,” “My Desire,” “Anywhere,” and “Everything Is Wrong.” They are expected to release a new album next year.
Also on the bill is Deerhunter, an indie rock four-piece. Fading Frontier, Deerhunter’s most recent release, dropped in October 2015 o 4AD. The album was preceded by theee singles: “Snakeskin,” “Breaker,” and “Living My Life.”
Experimental rock band Battles will serve as opening act. Their latest LP, La Di Da Di, was released in September 2015 through Warp Records and is anchored by two singles: “The Yabba” and “FF Bada.”
