Interview: Galantis on songwriting, Sea Fox and adding 'danger' to their live shows

Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklöw, the musicians, songwriters and producers behind the dance music powerhouse Galantis, have been around long enough to know how to this works. Prior to forming Galantis in 2013, both artists enjoyed successful careers on their own, with Eklöw winning an ASCAP award for co-authoring the Icona Pop smash “I Love It” and Karlsson earning international acclaim as a member of Miike Snow. So when the duo started Galantis, they applied their extensive experience as both musicians and performers to create a singularly enthralling entity.

Four years in, Galantis is every bit as successful as their other projects. Their live shows are incredibly energetic, mixing in live drums and other musical instruments for an experience that transcends the stereotype of most live dance music. The Sea Fox mascot -- which they refer to “the third member” of group -- has become something of a visual embassador for their brand. And their music, a towering mixture of electro, disco, house and their savvy pop instincts, is among the most euphoric in the dance music scene.

So Galantis is the rare group that can do it all. In advance of their upcoming performance at Coachella and the group’s April 18 show at The Novo by Microsoft in Los Angeles, Karlsson and Eklöw sat down with to talk about their new live show, Sea Fox and the holding onto the memorable lyrics to “Peanut Butter Jelly" until just the right time. Check out our exclusive interview in the video above and click here for tickets to their April 18 show at The Novo by Microsoft.
