Swifties are wondering if Taylor Swift has been dropping hints about a potential seventh studio album (which fans are calling TS7) in a recent series of Instagram photos.
Swift began the cryptic posts on Sunday, with the first one being a picture of seven palm trees which is also captioned with seven palm tree emojis. The trees are interestingly arranged in clusters in the picture. Four are on the left side, two are on the right side and one is standing alone in the middle.

One fan @annaandmitch is counting the stars in the obviously-edited photo – which could number 60 or 61. They are suggesting this could be 61 days until an announcement or single release, which would be April 26, which is also Arbor Day (honoring trees) and falls on a Friday, which is usually new music or video release day each week.
Another theory suggests the four trees represent Swift’s four country albums and the two trees represent her pop albums. The single tree in the middle could mean her upcoming seventh album defies either of those genres and falls in a class by itself.
The next Instagram photo posted yesterday in which Swift is sitting on a spiral staircase in what looks like a glitzy party gown. She’s notably seated on the seventh step, six stairs up from the bottom. There’s also a piano in the photo underneath the steps. Does this suggest she’s writing songs? The post is captioned with a single red heart emoji.
Finally, in the third post (which arrived several hours ago), Swift is seen wearing sunglasses looking through a lattice gate which features five holes. The photo is captioned with a yellow heart emoji and the photo seems shrouded in a sunny or yellow haze. One theory suggests the snaps are counting something down "7, 6, 5.” Do the red and yellow colors mean anything?
Swift closed out her record-breaking Reputation Stadium Tour near the end of last year, which she spent with tour pals and opening acts Camila Cabello and Charli XCX. Her critically-acclaimed sixth studio album, reputation, was recently nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards. However, Ariana Grande claimed the award for her fifth studio album Sweetener.
Swift is known for dropping clues prior to exciting announcements, like the snake-themed social media posts prior to reputation’s announcement. The "Shake It Off” singer has been busy filming "Cats” in London, in which she will play Bombalurina alongside cast members Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson, James Corden and more.
Sleuthing Swifties will likely keep their eyes peeled for more Instagram clues in the days ahead. For now, Swift has disabled comments on the photos. Swift’s YouTube channel has also been quiet, with her most recent video posts including the trailer for her Netflix Reputation Stadium concert film posting two months ago, and a collab with Robbie Williams per as a UK tour guest eight months ago.
