J. Cole announces North American tour dates with Young Thug behind ‘KOD’

Rap star J. Cole will be performing across North America this fall with Young Thug in promotion of his latest studio album, KOD. The popular rapper and producer announced his North American touring plans on Tuesday morning, a little over two weeks after surprise-releasing his latest album following a pop-up concert in New York City back in mid-April.

The 34-date North American tour will start on Aug. 9 in Miami, and runs well into the fall months with a final show at Boston’s TD Garden on Oct. 10. Notable stops on the tour, which will feature Young Thug as the opener on nearly every date with exception of a few, include scheduled shows at Atlanta’s Infinite Energy Center (Aug. 12), Los Angeles’ Staples Center (Aug. 24) and Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena (Sept. 7) just to name a few.

Cole’s new album picked up some media attention thanks to his involvement with actor Kevin Hart in the music video for the single, “Kevin’s Hart.” For the upcoming tour, Cole was actually inspired by another rapper in Kendrick Lamar in terms of how to translate a strong, unified album to a live setting.

“Kendrick’s [2017] show gave me chills because I got to see what it was like to have a hit album performed, and it set off a desire,” Cole told Vulture in a recent exclusive interview. “It was a recognition — like ‘Oh, I’ll take that again. Like looking at a menu, I’ll have that again.’”

Tickets for select shows on the North American tour will be going on sale starting this Saturday (May 12) at 10 a.m. local time, and can be found by clicking here.
