A day following Coachella’s 2018 lineup announcement on Tuesday, New York City’s Governors Ball stepped into the spotlight for an impressive poster unveiling of their own. The annual three-day (mostly) pop music event on New York’s Randall’s Island will feature headlining performances from Eminem, Jack White, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Travis Scott.
This will be Eminem’s first time performing at the New York City festival, which started back in 2011. The famous rapper is set to perform at both weekends of Coachella this spring, leading fans to believe that he’ll be hitting the festival circuit hard in 2018 in promotion of his new Revival LP. Jack White last headlined Governors Ball back in 2014, following the release of his then-new Lazaretto album. Rumors have swirled throughout the winter that White will be releasing a follow-up to the 2014 Grammy-nominated album sometime this year, and his place on the GovBall lineup card almost confirms that he’ll indeed be doing so.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' place on the lineup might be the most exciting, as the veteran rock band will be playing in front of what should be an enormous hometown crowd. The trio returned from their three-year hiatus in 2017 with select shows in Los Angeles, Oakland and Brooklyn this past fall.
While the main headliners offer an impressive incentive for fans to purchase tickets, the undercard is also filled with plenty of fantastic rock bands to balance out the large number of rap artists and DJs on the bill, including Chvrches, New Jersey rockers Gaslight Anthem, Maggie Rogers, Japandroids, Alvvays, The Struts, Pond and The Menzingers.
Governors Ball will return to Randall’s Island on June 1-3 this coming summer. Ticketing and general information can be found on the festival’s official website.
