Shaky Knees Festival, the annual, three-day rock-a-thon which takes place every spring in Atlanta, announced its 2018 lineup on Monday morning. This year’s Shaky Knees headliners features a familiar trio of Jack White, The National and Queens of the Stone Age (see Boston Calling lineup announcement). This year’s Shaky Knees, which takes place May 4-6, also appears to have found a new home in returning to Atlanta’s Central Park, having been held at the city’s Centennial Olympic Park the past two years.
The lineup also boasts a rock friendly listing of artists including David Byrne, The War on Drugs, Franz Ferdinand, Alvvays, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Parquet Courts, Charly Bliss, Japandroids and Andrew WK to name a few. The festival also boasts plenty of fresh names which haven’t really appeared on any of the previously-announced 2018 lineup posters, including Courtney Barnett, Tenacious D, Lord Huron, The Voidz (formerly Julian Casablancas+The Voidz), Jimmy Eat World, All Time Low, The Black Angels and Bully.
By now it’s starting to become clear who will be leading the way in the 2018 festival circuit, with Jack White having already appeared in lineup announcements for Boston Calling and Governors Ball music festivals. Fans of The National and Queens of the Stone Age should have assumed to see the two popular rock bands on numerous festival posters in 2018, with each group releasing new albums towards the end of 2017. With all the solo and hip-hop artists dominating the more mainstream festivals for this year, it’s great to see annual rock-centered events still thriving with a fresh lineup and plenty of loud guitars and bands to go around.
