Jamila Woods announces 2019 LEGACY! LEGACY! Tour

There are very few mainstream recording artists that are willing to (wo)man the frontlines or roll their sleeves up and work at a grassroots level in order to build and uplift their community. Then again, there are very few human beings like singer, songwriter, poet, and activist Jamila Woods. The soulful R&B singer isn't known strictly for her work as a musician but also for her work as a published author, Bachelor's degree recipient in Africana Studies, and a community organizer in her hometown of Chicago, Illinois.

For years now, Woods has curated poetry workshops, created an educational curriculum for Chicago Public Schools, and takes on the title of Associate Artistic Director for Young Chicago Authors (YCA). YCA is an organization committed to amplifying the voices of Chicago youth through the arts while providing reliable mentorship. While Woods remains to be a pillar to her community, she's also found time to become an extremely successful recording artist.

In 2016, Jamila Woods released her critically-acclaimed debut album, HEAVN, via her SoundCloud page. The album caught the attention of many of the music industry elite while it featured hip-hop and R&B acts like Chance The Rapper, Noname (Tickets), Donnie Trumpet, and more. Now, the "VRY BLK" singer is preparing to release her second studio album entitled, LEGACY! LEGACY! come May 10 (Pre-Order Here) and has announced an upcoming North American tour in conjunction with the release of the full-length project as well.
