Denver’s Bluebird Theater jumps right into 2019 with an extensive and eclectic bill in January. As usual, there’s a little something for everyone at the Bluebird from alt-country to afrobeat and hip-hop to ska-punk, which includes some local favorites.
January gets underway on Jan. 3 with some great alt-country beginning with Austin, Texas-based country-rockers Shane Smith & the Saints followed by North Carolina-based band American Aquarium. Kentucky singer-songwriter Chris Knight performs on Saturday, Jan. 5 ahead of Denver favorites Ryan Chrys & The Rough Cuts & Tracksuit Wedding to close out the weekend.
Denver's own electronic trio Spectacle hit the Ogden on Jan. 10 before ska-punk veterans Mustard Plug kick off the next weekend on Friday, Jan. 11, followed by Denver’s own afrobeat aficionados Pink Hawks and ATOMGA on Jan. 12. Chicago based rapper Mick Jenkins gets the next week underway on Jan. 15.
Indie-pop outfit Wild Child heads to the Ogden for a two-night run Jan. 16 & 17 ahead of fellow indie ensemble Cursive on Jan. 18. Reuniting in 2016 after a five-year hiatus, Thursday heads to the Ogden for a pair of shows where the rockers will play two of their most well-known albums. January closes out with a performance from pop singer-songwriter gnash on Jan. 31.
