Jerry Garcia Band box set ‘Electric On The Eel’ gets a spring release

On Aug. 29, 1987, Jerry Garcia Band made their first appearance at French’s Camp on the Eel River in Piercy, California at the behest of counter-culture figure and Hog Farm founder Wavy Gravy. The show benefited the Hog Farm and longtime Grateful Dead collaborator and concert promoter Bill Graham handled production and promotion.

Jerry and the band--which at the time consisted of singers Gloria Jones and Jacklyn LaBranch, bassist John Kahn, keyboardist Melvin Seals and drummer David Kemper--had so much fun they would return to the secluded venue in 1989 and 1991.

All three electric shows found their way onto tape and are now set for release as a six-disc box set titled Electric on the Eel. The box set arrives on March 15 and can be pre-ordered through JerryGarcia.com. You can find a complete track listing below.

As Jambase reported, the 1987 show also saw a performance from the Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band and a separate Acoustic on the Eel disc will also be available exclusively through independent record stores and on JerryGarcia.com.

The music of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead is alive and well with stellar Dead tribute acts Dark Star Orchestra and Joe Russo's Almost Dead. Both bands are touring in 2019. Click here for select Dark Star tickets or follow this link to browse AXS for tickets to select JRAD shows.
