The last time John Butler and his trio toured North America it was the summer of 2015, and the former busking hippie was promoting his then-new album, Flesh & Blood. The now 42-year-old guitarist and songwriter announced on Monday that he and the rest of the John Butler Trio will be returning to the United States and Canada this summer, with 15 shows starting on July 8 and running until Sept. 12.

The Australian musician famous for his virtuosic fingerpicking style became a big name in the bohemian jam band scene with his organic-sounding mainstream folk and modernized celtic rock songs. Butler hasn’t announced the release of any new music set to arrive by the time he visits mostly smaller markets later this summer, so fans should expect a show made up of catalog favorites including “Funky Tonight,” “Losing You,” “Only One” and of course the instrumental masterpiece in “Ocean.”

In addition to headlining his own shows, the Trio will also be making stops at various festivals throughout the summer including Virginia's Lockn’, Chicago's Ravinia and Jacksonville, Oregon's Britt Music and Arts Festival.
