Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter John Hiatt is headlining a North American tour in support of The Eclipse Sessions, his 23rd studio album and his first new studio album since 2104's Terms of My Surrender. The Eclipse Sessions  has 11 tracks and is set for release on Oct. 12 on New West Records. The tour begins Oct. 20 in New Orleans with dates announced through Nov. 15 in Nashville. Before Hiatt goes on the tour, he's doing two appearances at Americana Fest in Nashville: The Station Inn on Sept. 13 and Woofstock at Ascend Amphitheater on Sept. 16.

The Eclipse Sessions, produced by Kevin McKendree, got its title because Hiatt and his band recorded about three tracks on Aug. 21, 2017, the day a solar eclipse went across the United States. According to a statement, Hiatt considers The Eclipse Sessions to be in the same musical lineage as his works 1987 album Bring the Family and his 2000 album Crossing Muddy Waters.  Hiatt commented, “The three albums are very connected in my mind. They all have a vibe to them that was unexpected. I didn’t know where I was going when I started out on any of them. And each one wound up being a pleasant surprise."
