John Legend announces debut holiday album and tour for ‘Legendary Christmas'
Mariah Carey/Vevo

Singer and pianist John Legend will release his first-ever holiday album next month when A Legendary Christmas arrives on Oct. 26. The popular singer announced the upcoming seasonal release on Monday from the warm and sunny confines of his Los Angeles home while wearing a Santa hat as seen in the video below. The arrival of the 14-song album will be accompanied by a full North American holiday tour beginning on Nov. 15 in Florida and running until Dec. 30.

Legend’s 25-show winter tour will visit a mix of major and smaller cities throughout the U.S. and Canada starting down in Miami and Atlanta then heading up to the northeast and through the upper Midwest before ending on the west coast just in time for a concert at the Microsoft Theater in Legend’s current hometown of Los Angeles on Festivus (Dec. 23). The full tour schedule can be seen listed out below.

As for the album, Legend can be heard recording some of the music in the announcement video seen below, in addition to showing off some adorable footage of his children with celebrity wife Chrissy Teigen.

“We recorded eight classic Christmas songs, plus six brand new Christmas songs just for you,” the singer can be heard saying in the announcement video.

Some of the songs on the album also feature guest appearances from some of Legend’s musical pals including jazz prodigy Esperanza Spalding in addition to Stevie Wonder, who plays the harmonica on the opening track titled “What Christmas Means to Me.” The upcoming release will be Legend’s first studio album since 2016’s Darkness and Light. Legend's 2011 Christmas collaboration with Mariah Carey titled "When Christmas Comes" can be heard in its music video seen above.

Tickets to select shows on the tour will be going on sale starting this Friday (Oct. 5) and can be purchased by clicking here. Fans can also click here to pre-order A Legendary Christmas on both CD and vinyl before it arrives on Oct. 26.
