Josh Groban stopped by “Live with Kelly and Ryan” earlier today to promote his role in the upcoming Netflix series “The Good Cop.” He also discussed his recently-announced 2018 Bridges Tour in which Broadway legend Idina Menzel joins him. Groban also teased an upcoming new album but didn’t offer any details.
Groban and Menzel worked together on a PBS “Soundstage” taping in 2008. The “You Raise Me Up” singer praised his Tony-winning tour partner during his chat with the “Live” co-hosts. He said, “We’re going to be going back on the road and the extraordinary Idina Menzel is going to be joining us. She’s somebody who’s not only a dear friend, but one of the most exquisite artists.”
Menzel’s Broadway career has spanned over two decades and she is best-known for her riveting, Tony Award-winning role of Elphaba in the Broadway production of “Wicked.” She also voiced the role of Elsa in Disney’s beloved animated film “Frozen” and had a recurring role on Fox’s hit dramedy series “Glee,” among many more professional singing and acting credits.
Groban was notably clean shaven for his talk show appearance, having recently removed the beard he had grown for his Tony-nominated Broadway role in “Natasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812" for his new Netflix role. His impending new album and tour follow his 2015 Grammy-nominated Broadway-themed album, Stages. (Watch the music video for "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables on the Stages album above.)
Stages peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and U.S. Digital Albums Chart and topped the UK Albums Chart and the Stages tour took place at intimate theater venues. For the Bridges Tour, Groban and Menzel will hit arena stages this fall, including an Oct. 30 stop at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado (Click here to purchase tickets).
