There is an undeniable buzz growing around Judas Priest’s upcoming album, Firepower. The fever pitch is increasing louder every day due to the strength of their video for “Lightning Strike” in addition to the limited edition merchandise options available on the band’s PledgeMusic campaign. Although singer Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis could easily rest on their laurels at this point in their career, the guys are fired up as ever and hit the road March 13 on tour in support of their forthcoming release. Judas Priest’s 18 studio album, Firepower, is due to release Friday, March 9, 2018 via Epic Records.
Priest reunited with producer Tom Allom for this record. Tom worked the board for all Judas Priest releases from 1979-1988, which includes their classic works Unleashed in the East, British Steel, Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders of the Faith. Grammy Award-winning producer Andy Sneap presence helped raise the musical quality even higher.
“Tom Allom has got this classic metal thing,” said Halford in a statement. “And Andy is a bit more of a ‘modern metal producer’ but his thinking is a little bit different to Tom’s. And I think to get this balance between that classic old school metal to what Andy’s world it was just a remarkable coalescence.” “Tom Allom has been with us since 1979, so his knowledge of ourselves and our music, in general, is immense,” adds Hill. According to Travis, Priest returned to the recording process that worked so well on the band’s earlier classics, “We went back to the organic way of recording where it’s all of us in a room and we got to play together.”
The band’s PledgeMusic pre-orders offer exclusive limited-edition merchandise including signed colored vinyl, an exclusive Judas Priest t-shirt, autographed vinyl test pressings, and the extremely coveted and very limited amount of signed Judas Priest guitars.
