Justin Bieber will perform in the Queen City next year as part of his Purpose World Tour. The polarizing pop phenomenon will headline First Niagara Center at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016.
Spanning major markets across North America, the 58-date tour, promoted by AEG Live, kicks off on March 9, 2016, in Seattle, Washington, and wraps at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden on July 18, 2016. Along the way, the Biebs will play two-night runs at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center, Chicago’s Allstate Arena and Toronto’s Air Canada Centre.
The announcement arrives just two days before the release of Bieber’s fourth studio album, Purpose, on Def Jam Recordings. The album was preceded by back-to-back smash hit singles, “What Do You Mean” and “Sorry,” both of which are currently in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Earlier this week, the 21-year-old singer released two new singles, “The Feeling” and “Love Yourself”; the former features indie pop singer Halsey and the latter was co-written with Ed Sheeran. Purpose, Bieber’s first album since 2012’s Believe, also features collaborations with Skrillex, Diplo, Big Sean ("No Pressure"), Travis Scott ("No Sense") and Ariana Grande (the deluxe edition remix of "What Do You Mean?"). Following the launch of its iTunes pre-order last month, Purpose shot to No. 1 on the iTunes Top Album chart in over 90 countries. Fans can pre-order autographed CDs, vinyl and other limited edition memorabilia via Bieber’s official online store.
After he initially garnered public attention via YouTube, the headline-grabbing Canadian export went released 2010 debut My World 2.0, featuring the hit single “Baby.” Since then, Bieber has released a 3D biopic-concert film, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never; a holiday album, Under the Mistletoe; and third studio album, Believe. However, in recent years, his music career has taken a backseat to his chaotic personal life.
