It's high time Kacey Musgraves' brand new album Pageant Material witnessed a vinyl release. Following it's June 23 street date, the album (anchored by "Biscuits" and new single "Dime Store Cowgirl") bowed at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, despite very little radio airplay, and is now ready for purchase in vinyl. Musgraves, whose Same Trailer Different Park follow-up is equally engaging and traditionally-grounded, gives fans a cool look into the pressing process of her new record at United Record Pressing. Check out the featurette (with "High Time" as the backdrop) above.
The vinyl won't be available everywhere, but you can take a look on Musgraves' Facebook for a list of all outlets which have jumped on board.
Pageant Material is far less character driven and more inwardly focused on Musgraves' personal experiences over the past two years. She takes aim at the media's obsession over female feuds (the title track is inspired by the 2013 CMA Awards) and the male domination at radio (on "Good Ol' Boys Club"). Elsewhere, she examines love, family and living life to the fullest. The album defied all odds and shifted 55,000 copies, also notching a No. 3 debut on the Billboard 200. This follows her 2013 debut full player, which also arrived at the summit on Top Country Albums (with 43,000). It's a remarkable feat that Musgraves' sales have began to rise, again, regardless of fairly little radio support. Despite the male-focused landscape and the recent Salad Gate scandal, the singer has ventured far outside the Nashville bubble to uncover opportunities to grow her brand, including a slot on pop singer Katy Perry's Prismatic World Tour last summer.
In support of the new record, Musgraves picks up her tour tonight (July 10) at the Windy City Smokeout in Chicago, Il. She continues her trek into November, with days all across the country, as well as overseas. Find out additional info and grab tickets here.
