Kacey Musgraves pays homage to variety shows in 'Biscuits' music video

Country music singer Kacey Musgraves' "Biscuits" music video looks like it's something straight out of "The Lawrence Welk Show," which is often parodied on "Saturday Night Live." In the video, which was released today (June 10) the 26 year-old singer pays homage to old school shows like "Hee Haw" and "Pee-wee's Playhouse" in a comedic fashion.

Kacey Musgraves' official "Biscuits" music video begins in black and white with the singer churning butter to make her biscuits. The scene cuts in half to show a bright red curtain. When the curtain comes up, Musgraves is at a barn yard dance. She's dressed in updated and sultry country western attire, while surrounded by dancers who are dressed in more modest country western wear.

In the video she's leading a team of square dancers, sings with a Muppet, is dressed up as a male farmer, and plays the guitar with her band, who are all dressed in sparkly gold suits. The "Biscuits" music video ends with one last dance scene, before the red curtain closes.

The song "Biscuits" is the lead single from Kacey Musgraves' upcoming second studio album Pageant Material, which is scheduled to come out on June 23 via Mercury Nashville. It will be the follow-up to her 2013 album, Same Trailer Different Park, which went on to sell over half a million copies.

In support of Pageant Material, Kacey Musgraves will be touring around the U.S. this summer. She'll perform headlining concerts, at music festivals, and at state fairs. A complete list of Kacey Musgraves' upcoming concerts can be found via the events page on her official website.
