"Heartbeat Song" hasn't performed the way a Kelly Clarkson song usually does but combined with all the DJs who report playing the moderate hit it was able to climb to the top of that specific chart.
The Dance Club Songs chart is an easy way for a song to grab another No. 1 status. "Heartbeat Song" follows Clarkson's last five previous single releases including the smash "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" and "Catch My Breath." Any remix of the song being played is eligible for the Dance charts and several of Clarkson's singles over the last 10 years have garnered the top spot.
"Heartbeat Song" was released in January as the lead single to the sixth studio album by Clarkson. It's now ran its course and soon Clarkson will be releasing the follow-up single "Invincible." "Invincible" was written and demoed by Sia who has finally broken out into the U.S. markets. Recorded as the last song for the album after giving birth to daughter River Rose, the vocals are strong and clear on the upcoming anthem.
Piece by Piece was received well in its first week of sales. Released March 3, Piece debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. Of all six of Clarkson's non-holiday releases, her debut album Thankful, 2009's All I Ever Wanted and the latest album have all achieved No. 1 status.
Kelly Clarkson will perform at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 17, where it's likely she'll debut the new single.
