Kelly Clarkson is preparing for her upcoming Piece by Piece Tour and has a special treat for fans wanting to come to the show. Announced today, Clarkson and her team are inviting fans to sumbit videos of themselves singing in what she calls "Open Mic Night." At each show, one special fan will be pre-chosen to get on the stage with Clarkson and sing a cover song in front of thousands of people.
By heading over to the Open Mic Night link, fans can submit a video of themselves singing a cover song uploaded to YouTube, Vime, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. The link to the video will need to be pasted in the fields given on the site.
Fans who are submitting videos must be at least 18 years old to participate and win. Once chosen, verification will be needed. Submissions are acceptable from only the lower 48 states in the US. Each submission will be judged based on originality, vocal ability, interpretation of the song and creativity. Clarkson will be the sole decision maker in the process.
Kelly Clarkson over the years has been close with her fans and gives treats at each of her shows. Always performing a cover song on tour, during 2012's three legs of the Stronger Tour, Clarkson and her band had fans tweet songs they would like to hear her cover at each show. The band would then learn the song for that night's show. Clarkson has covered a rang of songs from Eminem's "Lose Yourself" appropriately in Detroit, No Doubt's "Don't Speak" in Phoenix, to Rihanna's "We Found Love," Radiohead's most notable track "Creep" as well as classics such as "I'll Stand By You" and "Stand By Your Man." The purpose was to make each show special as concerts hit YouTube shortly after the show.
Having Open Mic Night will be a way for fans to get their voices heard and to share the stage with the three-time Grammy winner. One fan by the name of Jenna has been a lucky girl at previous shows being pulled on stage and performing songs like "My Life Would Suck Without You" with as much energy as a die-hard fan could have.
The Piece by Piece Tour kicks off July 11 in Hershey, PA at the Hersheypark Stadium. The North American leg of the tour will finish Oct. 17 in Vancouver, BC.
