Kelly Clarkson named Grand Marshall for the Nashville Christmas Parade

The 63rd Piedmont Natural Gas Christmas Parade has named singer and first  American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson as the Grand Marshall of the event this year. The parade will be kicking off the Christmas season in Nashville, Tennessee with “The Musical Mile” theme on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016.  The family friendly event is scheduled to step off at 9:00 a.m. and will use the new parade route that began in 2015. 

Parade participants will start at the intersection of 8th Avenue and Broadway, head east down Broadway to Second Avenue North, crossing over the Cumberland River and ending at the base of the Woodland Street Bridge. The Parade will be televised live by WKRN-TV, Channel 2 in Nashville. If you are planning to attend the event this year, be sure to arrive early due to street closures and dress appropriately for the weather conditions.

Clarkson has released 6 studio albums, a greatest hits album and a holiday album since her win on Idol. She has won Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards and one CMA Award throughout her career. The singer and her husband, Brandon Blackstock, have made their home in Middle Tennessee with their children.

Some of the proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt along with the Share the Warmth program through Piedmont National Gas Company which assist low-income families with energy costs throughout the year. The Nashville Christmas Parade is a family tradition and enjoyed by all who attend.
