Kelly Clarkson is ready to move on from "Heartbeat Song" as the lead single from her No. 1 album Piece by Piece. Released in January, the single has had moderate airplay but has failed to perform like previous hits. Now she's ready to show the world just how "Invincible" she is. The new single will soon have a video.
"Invincible" is set for a radio release on May 18 and was written primarily by singer-songwriter Sia. It was the last song recorded for Piece by Piece after Clarkson gave birth to River Rose. Clarkson describes the song as "'Stronger' on steroids." While the song isn't a dance anthem, the synthpop track is a empowering wailer with Clarkson's vocal's hitting strong notes and passionate runs.
Clarkson's main producer of her latest album Greg Kurstin along with Jesse Shatkin collaborate with Sia. While Clarkson has certainly built a strong working relationship with Kurstin, she and Sia have never worked together. Shatkin presented Clarkson with the song and she fell in love with the range of the song so much that she decided to retain Sia's original background vocals on the track. "Invincible" is just one of two Sia songs on her new record ("Let Your Tears Fall" is the other).
The upcoming music video was shot by Alon Isocianu in L.A. at the end of April. Days ago, Clarkson's longtime best friend and makeup artist Ashley Donovan posted a picture to Instagram of the anthem singer getting ready for the video shoot before heading off to Australia for promo.
So far this era has gotten off to a slow start. "Heartbeat Song" recently hit the top of the Dance Club Play Songs chart putting another No. 1 under her belt across any Billboard chart.
Kelly Clarkson is scheduled to perform at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards which airs May 17 on ABC at 8 p.m. EST where it can be expected she will debut the new powerful track a day before it's official release.
