Kelly Clarkson will take the Billboard Music Awards stage Sunday, May 17 on ABC. The following day she is ready to release her second single from her No. 1 hit album Piece by Piece. "Invincible" will be released to radio May 18 as the follow up to "Heartbeat Song" which recently hit the top of the Dance Club Play Songs chart.
"Invincible" was written by Sia and passed on to Clarkson through her producers who work with Sia. The song Clarkson describes as "'Stronger' on steroids." It may not be the dance anthem the No. 1 hit was but it's a bold message with soaring vocals. For the recorded version on Piece by Piece Kelly Clarkson decided to retain Sia's original backup vocals and blend well with the Grammy winning songwriter's tone.
The decision to release the track as the next single seems to be that of Clarkson's. When asked in interviews, she mentioned it becoming a single with a simple "because I want it to be." Clarkson's past days of fighting for her music choices look to be over.
Clarkson's longtime best friend and makeup gal Ashley Donovan posted a picture on Instagram of Clarkson shooting the video for the next single. "Invincible" was filmed at the end of April into the beginning of May.
"Invincible" is just one of two songs penned by Sia on Clarkson's sixth studio effort. "Let Your Tears Fall" is also another pop track that could fair well on mainstream radio as a single.
Kelly Clarkson will venture out on tour in support of the latest pop effort later this spring and summer.
