Country breakout star Kelsea Ballerini pays a little homage to classic '90s pop in her new video, "Yeah Boy." Incorporating flashy colors, Britney Spears-esque dance moves and a boy band lineup, the clip--directed by Kristin Barlowe (also behind previous videos "Love Me Like You Mean It" and Peter Pan" and has worked with Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and more in varying capacities)--is like a page ripped from Tiger Beat. "We wanted this video to capture the essence of the song, which is just bright," Ballerini said of the song. "So we're playing with a lot of lights and a lot of bright colors, which I haven't gotten to do in a video yet."
"Yeah Boy" follows three consecutive No. 1 hits, including "Dibs" and most recently, "Peter Pan." All tracks are lifted from her gold-certified debut album The First Time. Th heat of her budding career recently landed the upstart her first-ever Grammy nomination, in the big Best New Artist category. She faces off against fellow country singer Maren Morris, The Chainsmokers, Anderson .Paak and Chance the Rapper. The 59th annual Grammy Awards go live Feb. 12 on CBS at 8/7c. "This year has been crazy! I am still so young and still learning so much every single day from doing what I love everyday," Ballerini told AXS.com earlier this year of her success. "Also surrounding myself with great influences and role models that I can go to for anything is something that I really cherish, as these people have been through it all before."
Despite the allure of the paparazzi and the twinkle of Hollywood, she remains grounded. "Always staying true to yourself is so important in every aspect of life, but I find that with all the great things happening in my life right now, remembering to stay true to myself and stay true to others is definitely key," she said.
