Kevin James is stepping off the TV screen and back onto the comedy stage, as he brings his stand-up act to Temecula's Pechanga Resort & Casino. James will headline at the Pechanga Theater on Sunday, April 23 at 7 p.m. Tickets will go on sale via the venue's website on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. local time.
James is currently starring as retired police officer Kevin Gable in the CBS sitcom "Kevin Can Wait." He's best known for his portrayal of down to earth Doug Heffernan in the long-running CBS comedy "The King of Queens," for which he earned an Emmy Award nomination as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2006. His movie credits include the title role in "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" and its sequel, co-starring with Will Smith in the romantic comedy "Hitch," and working with Adam Sandler in several films such as "Grown Ups" and "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry."
But before he found fame in film and television James began his career as a stand-up comic. He appeared on every major late night show including "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Night with David Letterman." Comedy Central named James as the 89th greatest stand-up comedian of all time and also premiered his one-hour stand-up special "Kevin James: Sweat the Small Stuff" in 2001.
James doesn't have nearly as much time for stand-up appearances as he used to, however, so the fact that he's appearing at Pechanga is great news for any Kevin James fan or comedy enthusiast. James is a true headliner whose energy fills the venue and whose stand-up act is a different experience than seeing him on TV. Even if you've watched every episode of both his shows, they don't compare to seeing him live on stage. His act has developed quite a bit since those early days on Leno and Letterman, and this opportunity to see a different side of him should not be missed.
Tickets for Kevin James at Pechanga Resort & Casino go on sale Thursday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. local time here. Ticket prices start at $89 and range up to $119.
