The throwback sound of 1960s psychedelic rock seems to be all the rage in the world of music, literally. Around the world, artists ranging from Tame Impala and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard to Miley Cyrus are all tapping into their experimental and mind-bending musical spirits and pumping out some pretty good modern spins on the older style of music these days.

Japanese psych-rock group Kikagaku Moyo announced the release of their new Stone Garden EP, on Thursday morning. The upcoming album will be released on April 21 via Guruguru Brain. The announcement of their follow-up to 2016’s House in the Tall Grass comes just a few days after previously announcing a 26-date North American tour in promotion of the new EP late last week. The scheduled run of shows kicks off on May 2 in Philadelphia and will take the group across the country in less than the span of a month, with the tour coming to a close with a show at The Earl in Atlanta on May 31. Notable stops along their month-long trek include concerts at Great Scott outside of Boston and a gig at Rough Trade in Brooklyn.

“Stone Garden started in a basement studio in Prague with a nearly continuous session over several days and nights,” the band said in a statement to go with their announcement release on Thursday. They also mentioned the original concept of their new album, “was influenced by the raw and seemingly endless jams of psychedelic pioneers. The freeform songs that emerged from those sessions were refined over several months at the band's home in Tokyo where each song was sculpted into an uncommon form.”

Kikagaku Moyo will be joined on the road by support acts MONO, Holy Sons and Sugar Candy Mountain.
