The fourth installment of the King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard's promise to produce five albums in 2017 arrives on Thursday, Nov. 16 and will be absolutely free to download. According to the band's recent Facebook post, "This album is FREE. Free as in, free. Free to download and if you wish, free to make copies. Make tapes, make CD’s, make records. The following files will be available to download at 9am Friday 17 Nov, Melbourne, Australia time at kinggizzardandthelizardwizard.com."

Along with download information for personal use, the band includes information on what files to download should you choose to press your own vinyls or CDs. Polygondwanaland follows three other impressive releases this year which include Flying Microtonal Banana, Murder of the Universe and Sketches of Brunswick East (A collaboration album with Mild High Club).

The uniqueness of this album release follows the same unpredictable blueprint that King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard seem to thrive off of. Their albums are difficult to categorize into a specific genre because of their constant pursuit to explore genres and concepts without fear of losing fans along the way. Many bands tend to try and stay true to their musical roots and what made them successful, but this seven-piece band from Australia truly prove that no genre, instrument or concept is off limits when it comes to producing an album. The excitement and anticipation around what the band may explore next is undeniably impressive considering the way music and the way we enjoy music has evolved so much over the years. It could be argued that the way King Gizzard release their music is an effort to bring some excitement back to album releases and the independent music industry as a whole.

A 10 plus minute video for "Crumbling Castle" was released last month without much more being said regarding the new album. Now it's become evident that "Crumbling Castle" will serve as the opening track to Polygondwanaland, but no word on the band's 5th and final release of 2017 has been revealed. Don't forget to download the album on the band's website starting at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17 Melbourne time or Thursday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. PST.
