The Los Angeles Kings will have two important games this week against Pacific Division opponents. They play the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday and the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday in Western Canada.
The Kings games against the Canucks and Oilers will conclude their nine game road trip. To date the Kings are three wins and four losses. This past week they defeated the Nashville Predators 4-0 and lost 3-2 to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a shootout and 3-2 to the Dallas Stars in overtime.
This past week the Kings received solid goaltending once again from Peter Budaj of Banska Bystrica, Slovakia. Budaj recorded his fourth shutout of the season in the Kings' win over the Predators and now has an excellent goals against average of 2.04.
Another great player for the Kings was Jeff Carter who scored five goals and was named the NHL's second star of the week. Carter scored twice each against the Stars and Blue Jackets and once against the Predators. He now has 19 goals and 29 points to lead the Kings. On the injury front, Tyler Toffoli is day-to-day with a lower body injury but is not expected back anytime soon.
Los Angeles is currently tied for fourth place in the Pacific Division with the Calgary Flames. Even though the Flames have one more win than the Kings, Los Angeles holds the fourth spot because the Flames have played two fewer games than the Kings to date. The Kings are also three points up on the Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets in the Western Conference.
