Guitarist and singer Kurt Vile and his band The Violators are headed out on a 2018 North American “campaign” this fall with 17 headlining tour dates scheduled to begin on Nov. 24 in Boston. The tour was announced on Tuesday morning, with artwork based around a “Vile ‘18” political campaign which surely promises to provide all fans with a perfect dosage of lo-fi indie rock. Jessica Pratt, an angelic-sounding singer-songwriter from Los Angeles will be coming on as the tour’s support act for all 17 shows.
The tour will see Vile and his band performing in major concert markets around the U.S. and Canada throughout the final days of November and running well into the holiday season with a final show at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre on Dec. 22. Fans should assume that the Chicago concert will be the final performance of 2018 for the long-haired guitarist from Philadelphia, although they should keep their eyes and ears open for a potential New Year’s Eve announcement in the near future as well. Throughout the month-long tour, Vile will be performing in venues including New York City’s Brooklyn Steel, Austin’s ACL Live at The Moody Theater and Los Angeles’ The Wiltern, just to name a few. Tickets for select shows on the tour will be going on sale starting this Friday (June 22) and can be purchased by clicking here.
Vile spent much of 2017 teaming up with fellow rocker Courtney Barnett with their collaborative Lotta Sea Lice studio album and co-headlining tour. Since then, Barnett has released her own new studio album in addition to performing across North America throughout the summer months. Fans should be optimistic that new music from Vile could also be arriving sometime later this summer as his headlining tour approaches.
