September is right around the corner which means Labor Day will soon be offering up three days of weekend, holiday fun. At this time of year, the weather is just right to enjoy many outdoor activities and Seattle has a vast arrangement of events and festivities for everyone to enjoy during the long weekend. From major music festivals to state fairs, there's something for everyone this Labor Day weekend.
Seattle Center — 305 Harrison St., Seattle, WA 98109
This one-of-a-kind festival will offer those in Seattle three days of exceptional musical entertainment. Seattles very own ODESZA will be part of the headliners, alongside Flume and Lorde. Bumbershoot will also feature the annual 1 Reel Film Festival during the entire weekend at the SIFF Film Center (formerly the Alki Rooms). Passes are available for single days or in weekend packages.
August 30-September 4
Ellensburg Rodeo Grounds — 609 N Main St, Ellensburg, WA 98926
This unique rodeo has been kickin' since 1923 and was named one of America's Top 10 Professional Rodeos by the Travel Channel. The festivities will kick off the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 30 and carry on through Sept. 4. A carnival and midway will offer patrons rides and fun throughout the weekend and each day will see something special, like a pancake breakfast and Cowboy Church on Sunday. The rodeo's schedule is filled to the brim with old-school rodeo fun that is sure to rope you in. Tickets are available for individual days or in weekend bundle for Sept. 1-4.
Bremerton Boardwalk Waterfront — 106 Washington Ave. Bremerton, WA 98337
This Labor Day weekend will see the 28th Annual Blackberry Festival return to Bremerton, bringing along many sweet treats to enjoy during the weekend. There will even be various flavors of wine for sell with tastes available for just a quarter. The event is put on by the Bremerton Rotary Club to fundraiser for the Bremerton Rotary Foundation which provides scholarships to students and donations to local non-profits, among many other acts. Blackberry Festival t-shirt and other merchandise will be sold during the event to raise funds. Please note that dogs and other domestic pets are not allowed on the Louis Mentor boardwalk and are not allowed during the Blackberry Festival.
Washington State Fair
September 1-24 (closes Tuesdays and Wednesday 9/6)
Washington State Fair Events Center — 110 9th Ave. SW Puyallup, WA 98371
The Washington State Fair, also called the Puyallup Fair, offers up all the splendors of a state fair and some unique events, from rodeos to carnival rides and music to motorsports. There's something for everyone at this historic state fair just in time for Labor Day weekend. The month long fair will feature various musical acts and concert performances, but during its opening weekend on Labor Day, attendees will get to enjoy concerts from Nickelback and Daughtry (Sept. 1), Lady Antebellum (Sept. 2) and Steven Taylor (Sept. 3). Summer Concerts at Chateau Ste. Michelle
Aug. 25 - Sept. 15
Chateau Ste. Michelle — 14111 NE 145th St, Woodinville, WA 98072
Starting back in June, the Chateau Ste. Michelle has been hosting its summer concert series with weekly acts strolling through the vineyard to treat guest to a unique musical experience. The series will be wrapping up the year in September with only a handful of performances left. During Labor Day weekend, The Gipsy Kings will be performing with Nicolas Reyes and Tonino Baliardo on Sept. 1 before heading down the coast to another winery show, Sept. 10 at Mountain Winery. Closing out Labor Day weekend on Sept. 4 at Chateau Ste. Michelle will be The Australian Pink Floyd Show performing "The Best Side of the Moon 2017." Tickets for these or any of the remaining concerts at the winery can be purchased online.
