Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper have scored a Billboard 200 No. 1 debut for their critically-acclaimed soundtrack for A Star Is Born, (for the chart dated Oct. 20) Billboard reports. The pair of co-stars each earn important milestones with the album’s latest chart-topping feat. Gaga gains her fifth chart-topper and Cooper earns his first No. 1 on the coveted U.S. all-genre ranking.

The A Star Is Born soundtrack dropped the same day as the film’s widespread theatrical release, on Oct. 5. Per Nielsen Music data, the album launched with 231,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Oct. 11 which reflects the biggest week for a soundtrack album in more than three-and-a-half years. Of the first week tally, 162,000 were album sales. The rest of the units are reportedly divided between SEA units (at 37,000) and TEA units following close behind at 32,000 units.

As previously reported, Gaga and Cooper also earned a UK chart-topping debut with the soundtrack, which they co-produced with Paul “DJWS” Blair, Dave Cobb, Nick Monson, Lukas Nelson, Brian Newman, Mark Nilan Jr. and Benjamin Rice. They also co-wrote many of the album’s tracks, with their powerful duet “Shallow” netting Cooper his first-ever Billboard Hot 100 chart entry.

Gaga racks up even more accolades with the Billboard 200 summit. Her career total Billboard 200 No. 1s increases from four to five with Born This Way (2011) marking her first chart-topper, followed by ArtPop (2013), her Tony Bennett collab Cheek to Cheek (2014) and her most recent, highly-personal album Joanne topping the chart in 2016.

Gaga also hits a massive milestone in breaking the tie she previously held with Taylor Swift in having four No. 1 albums apiece n the 2010 decade. A Star Is Born marks her fifth, which finds Gaga setting the record for having the most No. 1 albums in the current decade among female artists. She is one of six acts overall to have five or more Billboard 200 No. 1 albums in this decade. Future, J. Cole, Kanye West and Gaga all have five chart-toppers. Drake claims eight and Justin Bieber has six.

Also, three theatrical film soundtracks have topped the Billboard 200 chart in 2018 with A Star Is Born, The Greatest Showman and Black Panther: The Album.

There is a huge amount of Oscar buzz building for "A Star Is Born," with “Shallow" potentially expected to garner a Best Original Song Oscar nomination and Gaga to potentially earn her first Oscar nod for acting. The film marks Bradley Cooper’s directorial and music industry debut. With four Oscar nominations in Cooper's resume', "Star" could possibly earn him his first directing and writing nominations. Gaga has previously been nominated for an Oscar in 2016 for Best Original Song for "Til It Happens to You." With “Shallow” being a duet, Cooper and Gaga could also score a Grammy nomination for the track, which dropped on Sept. 27, right before the Grammy eligibility window closed.

Gaga has praised Cooper in multiple interviews to promote the film, including a recent stop at “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in which she credited his belief in her as being key to her performance as aspiring singer-songwriter Ally, who falls in love with Cooper’s rock star character Jackson Maine. Their relationship grows as he grooms her to become a star. But, they also struggle with the toll his substance abuse takes on them as a couple and as individual people. Gaga also noted Barbra Streisand, who played the lead in the 1976 version of “A Star Is Born,” visited the set and brought her to tears with a moving speech.

Per Box Office Mojo, the “A Star Is Born” film has grossed over $135 million worldwide since its release. Stay tuned to AXS for Lady Gaga and “A Star Is Born” updates.
