Lance Stephenson’s admission makes him perfect Lakers teammate

The Los Angeles Lakers have enjoyed an active offseason this summer, punctuated by the signing of LeBron James. The ancillary signings, however, bring with them considerable intrigue.

Lance Stephenson played his best basketball as a member of the Indiana Pacers, and he’s long served as a defensive foil for LeBron. While he hasn’t always had success guarding LeBron, he’s been as effective as anyone–especially when it comes to being an irritant.

What made him such a great foil to LeBron will make him the ultimate teammate, though. He’s a competitor, and like LeBron, he’ll do whatever it takes to win the game.

Stephenson was recently asked about a famous moment that involved the former Pacer blowing into LeBron’s ear on the floor.

“I was really trying to get him mad. Really trying to win the game, trying to get him like unfocused,” Stephenson said in an interview with The Score. “I was trying anything.”

Stephenson, the ultimate competitor, will make for an interesting teammate. He also took an inexpensive deal with the Lakers, which he hopes will further propel his career forward. The Lakers signed Stephenson to a 1-year, $4.4 million contract.

James was reportedly a fan of the Stephenson signing. The two should form a creative duo on the floor.

“It was actually funny that I am actually on the same team,” Stephenson said. “I am very excited to see what that brings and just playing with him, one of the best players in the game is going to be amazing. I can’t wait to get on board.”
