Metallica fans will want to check out the new film “Triple Frontier,” which began streaming on Netflix on March 13. Directed by J.C. Chandor, the action thriller stars Ben Affleck along with Oscar Issac and features soundtrack contributions from Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.

Loudwire reports on March 27 that the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was recruited by the film's director to add a layer of percussion to the soundtrack of “Triple Frontier” after the pair met during a screening of Chandor's 2013 drama film “All Is Lost.” The project marks Ulrich's first venture into film scoring and his first time recording outside of Metallica apart from a guest appearance on Mercyful Fate's 1993 album Intro the Shadows.

Fans who might be concerned that the “Enter Sandman” hitmaker will depart Metallica for a composing career in Hollywood need not fear. Although Ulrich finds it interesting to dabble in other projects to gain new perspectives, he has no intention to jump ship from the band he founded.

“I have no interest in playing with anybody else other than Metallica,” the Danish rocker reveals to Rolling Stone. “But occasionally there's  an opportunity to do something that’s just out of the wheelhouse.”

Ulrich will be back with his Metallica bandmates when the thrash metal giants launch its 2019 tour of Europe, which kicks off May 1 in Lisbon, Portugal. The spring romp will include a huge stop June 18 in Manchester, U.K., at Etihad Stadium before wrapping up Aug. 25 in Mannheim, Germany, at Palastzelt Maimarktgelande.
