LeBron James excited to play with new Lakers teammates

Much has been said about the cast of characters joining LeBron James with the Los Angeles Lakers. By adding the likes of Rajon Rondo, Michael Beasley, JaVale McGee, and Lance Stephenson, Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka have put together an assortment of players affectionately referred to as the “Meme Team.”

Despite their eccentricities, LeBron is looking forward to joining with his new teammates, citing their ability to push the Lakers in the right direction in 2018-19.

"We just got guys that love to play basketball," LeBron said in an interview with ESPN. “They're guys that every day that they wake up, they think about the game of basketball. And everything else is secondary.

“We look forward to all the challenges,” he added.

The Lakers have assembled a team where every roster player could make a significant contribution in the rotation. Even rookies Mo Wagner and Svi Mykhailiuk have the potential to make an impact, though their playing time will likely be limited out of the gate.

The Lakers finished the 2017-18 season at 35-47, but a slew of additions–including the best player in the world–should have them poised to make a significant jump in the Western Conference standings.

The Lakers have won 16 NBA championships, but the franchise has not made the playoffs since the 2013 season.

"I like the challenge of being able to help a team get to places that they haven't been in quite a while," LeBron said.
