There wasn't much drama or nail-biting at the "LFA 25" weigh-in, as Brazilian sensation Ciro "Bad Boy" Rodrigues (21-6-0, 1 NC) and Nebraska star Dakota Cochrane (29-12) both made weight for their welterweight showdown -- which serves as the night's main event.
The 28-year-old Rodrigues tipped the scales at the welterweight max of 171 pounds, while Cochrane gave himself a bit of wiggle room by weighing in at 170.6. It appeared to be a healthy cut for both men, as neither seemed to be severely dehydrated, tired or sucked out. Rodrigues and Cochrane both looked strong and lean, a good sign that their fight will live up to the hype.
With a possible UFC call-up on the line, fireworks are expected in their hotly-anticipated headlining bout. There's a very good chance that someone ends up getting knocked out, as these are two of the top strikers in the division.
In the night's co-main special attraction, California's Fernando Padilla sizzled at 145.8 pounds for his featherweight scrap against Darrick Minner. With 25 pro fights already on his resume and the hometown crowd behind him, Nebraska's Minner looked sharp and ready to go at 145 pounds on the dot. Much like the "LFA 25" main event, a UFC call-up could go to the winner of Padilla vs. Minner, especially if someone gets a big finish.
It's going to be a great night of fights in Omaha, as the show is set to go down at the historic Ralston Arena. LFA 25 airs on AXS TV on Friday, Oct. 20 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
