Listen: Alice Cooper streams official audio for 'Holy Water'

Alice Cooper fans pumped to see the shock-rock pioneer during his U.S.solo tour this fall or at a stop on his world romp with Hollywood Vampires can check out a newly released official audio clip for the song  “Holy Water.” The track is from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's latest studio album Paranormal, which dropped on July 28, 2017 via Earmusic.

The “School's Out” hitmaker debuted “Holy Water” on May 15 via his record label's YouTube channel after wrapping up his U.S. solo winter tour leg on March 29 in Indianapolis. “Holy Water” is the latest song to receive an official audio release from Paranormal , on the heels of the album's most recent single “The Sound of A,” which dropped Feb. 23.

Cooper explained in a YouTube interview, that “Holy Water” was originally written as a rap song. The Vamps frontman loved the song, but re-wrote the lyrics because he didn't think they were right for his Alice Cooper persona.

The 3:08 minute clip opens with an infectious riff, which the charismatic singer describes as being like “a New Orleans funeral.” The Detroit rocker describes his own stage persona in the first verse, singing, “I got a dot path and a walking cane/I got a black cat on a golden chain.“

Paranormal is Cooper's 27th studio album and re-teams him with longtime producer Bob Ezrin. The album features guest appearances by surviving members of Cooper's original band along with a star-studded guest list. It is available here in CD, digital, vinyl and streaming formats. Cooper will re-team with Hollywood Vampires for the launch of their U.S. mini-tour, which kicks off May 17 in Verona, New York, at Turning Stone Resort Casino and wraps up May 21 in Bethlehem, Pa., at Sands Casino, before heading for an overseas world romp,  beginning May 28 in Moscow at Olympisky.
